140. May 25th. Conrad Prückner, of Schwernitz above Lichtenfels (a serious man), who had been town-beadle at Schesslitz for 9 years and 8 years at Bamberg, a murderer, who shot the young servant of an Italian trader in a wood near Bechoffen and took from him some spices in two boxes and three lengths of fustian, afterwards leaving the body on the spot—beheaded with the sword here as a favour, and exposed on the wheel.
141. Matthew Lenger of Eulenburg, a cooper and citizen of this town, also a traitor and thief, who forced his way into the house of the woman Ortel in the New Buildings, broke open chests in the parlour and bedrooms, stealing many clothes, pewter-ware and five candlesticks; Wolf Lenckher, son of a citizen here, called ‘the big Nuremberger,’ a thief who stole many articles at Frankfort fair; broke into many shops at Nuremberg with his companion, taking the money from them—both men hanged. The cooper was stripped naked the first night, except for his stockings, so that a shirt and trunk-hose had to be put on him.

144. April 11th. Stoffel Weber, a plasterer and member of St. Mark’s brotherhood, because he with Peckschlager Erla and a wire-drawer snatched their weapons from Hans Heer and his servant by night, pointed them at their breasts and tried to steal their cloaks. Should have been beheaded, but he was begged off and his life was granted him. In the year 1588 Hemmerlein’s servant (see No. 117) who shot Monig the sugar-worker (he did not die, however) was also reprieved; previously also the man Rosentaler, who had carried on a tricky smuggling trade at Verona in Italy with the help of the bandits, was similarly reprieved; formerly also a peasant of Herspruck who, after drinking with another in an inn, rose from his drink and went in to the peasant’s wife by night, as if he were her husband, then got up and left her, but was recognised as a stranger by the woman when she looked after him—was also reprieved. In the year 1576 a tradesman, who had become the father of a child by his step-daughter, was also reprieved.

146. February 23rd. Lienhardt Kiesswetter of Upper Röhrnstatt, alias Linhardt Lubing, Linhardt of Röhrnstatt, Mosel Lindl and der Sichen Lindl, a robber and murderer, who attacked the inn-keeper on the Schlicht and struck him on the head so that he died; helped in the burglary at Greding where Kohler’s wife died; likewise stabbed ‘Black Nick’ his companion; helped to plunder a mill at Weissenburg (a list of other robberies follows); had 29 companions. Executed on the wheel at Sultzbach.
